Honeycomb cards

May 12, 2016

Hi there, it´s Sanna here today, sharing a set of cards created with the Honeycomb and the Bee dies from the new collection.

Sanna Lippert

When I first saw the Honeycomb die, I immediately knew I´d like to create cards with a bright background and add white Honeycomb details on top.  This is how I created the cards:

Sanna Lippert

Step 1: I first took a 10 x 14 cm sized piece of white cardstock and colored it with Brusho. Next I applied a Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. After that I cut 8 Honeycomb pieces and 3 sets with the Bee set from the cardstock.

Step 2: I then adhered the die cut pieces onto the colored background piece. I saved all the negative images/inlay pieces of the Honeycomb die for my next project. Some I added here and there onto the card background for interest.

Step 3: Since I had cut the Bee parts from white cardstock, I colored them with a yellow and black marker and assembled the pieces together.

Step 4: I wanted to add a bit of sparkle onto the bee wings, so I dibbed them into Silk Microfine Glitter – Warm Diamond and polished the glitter. Since the pieces are so small, you can apply the glitter by dibbing it directly into the glitter jar. Then dabbing the residue off and polishing the surface with your finger.

Step 5: Adhere the assemblied Bee onto it´s place on the card.

Step 6: I used a black paper pen to add some spots to describe the bee´s flying route.

Step 7: Use a Seeds of Thought Red Rubber Stamp – Take time or The Best things in Life or Planted in Faith stamp with black ink to stamp a sentiment for each card.

Step 8: Cut some flowers from White Soft Finish Cardstock with the flower that is in the Beehive die set. Fussy cut the stamped sentiment and adhere it into the open space in the middle of the card. Color the flowers and adhere them onto the card for additional detail. Add outlining to the stamped sentiment with a black pen.

Repeat the steps on all of the cards. This is how the finished cards look like:

I created all three cards after each other, but you could also work on them all at the same time, repeating each phase on the particular card. And with the inlay pieces of the Honeycomb die I´ve created another fun project which I will be sharing very soon.

I really enjoyed creating the bright and happy cards. If you prefer a more subtle look, you can use colored Soft Finish Cardstock with white Soft Finish Cardstock and create a very different look.

Happy crafting,
Sanna
