Hello Elizabeth Craft Designs friends, Annette Green here today with the Susan’s Garden Club Team sharing a 6″ x 6″ easel card perfect for Springtime (or really any time of the year). Living here in Florida our flower growing options are somewhat limited due to the extreme heat, and I’m not known for my green thumb, so I especially love working with Susan’s Garden Notes dies. This way I can create ANY flower I like and it will last forever. I chose Lilacs today for my card and I loved how easy they were to put together. Let me take you through the process of making the card so you can see for yourself.

  1. Cut a card base from purple card stock measuring 12″ x 6″ and another piece at 6″ x 6″. Score the 12″ long piece at 3″, then 6″ and fold on scores to create the easel portion, which looks like a triangle.

2. Adhere the 6″ x 6″ piece to the portion of the easel base as shown.

3. Adhere pretty papers and strips to the 6″ x 6″ card front as desired. I combined various collections from Graphic 45 on mine.

4. From ivory card stock, cut a strip 5 3/4″ x 1 7/8″ and stamp the sentiment  with green ink to the far right end. I used one of Susan’s Seeds of Thought rubber stamps –  “A Friend”. Using the Stitched Ovals Die, cut an oval from ivory card stock, then emboss with the Spring Leaves embossing folder. Using the Fitted Ovals Die, cut an oval from purple card stock.

5. Adhere the stamped strip to a 5 3/4″ x 2 1/8″ piece of purple card stock, then adhere to card as shown. Layer the ovals together and adhere to card front with foam tape for added dimension.

6. Adhere pretty papers to the inside of the card. For the card to stand up like an easel, add foam tape to the back of the post card tag to serve as a stopper.

7. Use Susan’s Garden Notes Lilac die to create the lilacs. Start by die-cutting 5 sets of the flowers from lilac colored card stock. Color the centers with a dot of PanPastel. Die cut two branches (which I adhered together in this photo for a more dimensional and thicker, sturdier branch) from brown card stock and two leaf sets from green card stock.

8. Use the smallest ball stylus in the tool kit to cup the tiny flowers into a firm artist’s eraser, following Susan’s directions for the Garden Notes Lilac. (Tip: Watch Susan’s helpful YouTube videos before beginning to assemble the flowers. The videos are concise and  easy to follow.)

9. Adhere the branch to the oval and build the lilac as instructed in Susan’s Lilac video, starting with the single stalk of lilac flowers.

10. Continue building more flowers onto the original stalk until it’s full and pretty.

11. I added corner adornments from the Tags & More 1 – Lace set, cut from purple card stock. Adhere an adhesive-backed pearl, then add leftover lilac flowers as shown.

Here’s another look at the completed card front. The lilac was so easy and fun to make, I could make several of these cards in an afternoon.  Thanks for following along today. I hope you give the lilac die a try!

Lilacs are my favorite flowers, and like you living in SWFL I don’t get to see any, so will have to get this die and give it a try. Love you card and always love doing an easel card. Haven’t seen the Graphic 45 papers but I really like the ones you used. will have to check them out. I have a few of Susan’s Garden notes dies, but not this one, which is going on my wish list. Thanks for sharing your card.
