Love

January 3, 2018

Good Morning.   This is Selma Stevenson today.  It is time to wish you a Happy New Year!  Our next holiday will be Valentine’s Day and nothing represents this special day better than roses and hearts (or is it chocolate for some of you?).  I have designed a card using Susan’s Garden Rose 1 die set and Elizabeth Craft Designs Scalloped Hearts die set. The beautiful sentiment is from one of the A Way With Words die sets.

Rose Gatefold Petal-Fold Card

July 4, 2017

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s Frances here and it’s my turn to post a tutorial today for the Die Cut Design Team. This time round I decided to play with the ModaScrap Gatefold – Elegant Roses die to create a “Petal-Fold” card. It is an elegant card, suitable for weddings, invitations or any occasion where you want something a little bit different.

As the cardstock I selected to use for my card was duo-tone (also called “duplex”) – dark red on one side and light red on the other – I decided to keep to the three colors of white, dark red and light red for my card. By keeping the insert loose, I could turn it with the back showing when the card is closed, revealing the light red through the openings of the “petals”.

Sewing with Die Cuts – Heart Ornament Sachets

Sewing with Die Cuts - Heart Ornament Sachets

by Joan Frantzen

Happy Mother’s Day! And thanks for the opportunity to be a Guest Designer again on this blog. To honor all the moms, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters out there, I offer another idea for using dies with fabric. This one features new heart dies used to cut various sized hearts that can serve as appliqués or patterns (another quilter’s trick!). Simply fill them with fiberfill as ornaments with a pop of spring color, or include lavender or potpourri inside for a scented sachet. They’re great “thinking of you” gifts for all the special women in your life!

Negative Die Cut Cards May Die Cut Designer Challenge

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our May Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge. This time round we have a technique to share with you that uses dies in a different way.

Our Challenge this month is ….. “Being Negative” – Normally when we use dies to cut we get a positive piece (the actual die cut) and a negative piece (the leftover piece or pieces that we often throw away). In many cases the negative pieces can also make interesting card components, and it is these pieces that are the focus of the Challenge cards. The Design Team can also incorporate the positive die cut piece if they wish.

Coloring Design Team Designer Challenge – April

April 18, 2017

Hi everyone,

It’s the third Tuesday in April and that means it is time for the Coloring Design Team Designer Challenge.

Our challenge this month is “Inside and Out” – We often decorate the front of our card and do nothing on the inside of the card. For our challenge this month let’s decorate the inside to coordinate with the front.

For our Challenge today we are giving away a $20 gift card to use on our website to 3 winners.

To enter, simply leave a comment on this blog post below and answer this question: What is your favorite or most-used sentiment when creating a card?

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing.

The winners will be announced on Friday, April 21, here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

Now let’s take a look at the wonderful creations our talented Design Team have created for the Challenge this month. For more information about the cards, click on the designer’s name under each card to be taken to the designer’s blog post and will open up in a new window.

January 10, 2017

Hi everyone,

We are excited to be bringing back our Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenges for 2017! On the first Tuesday of the Month starting in February we will be holding our Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge. Our Coloring Design Team Designer Challenge will be held on the third Tuesday of each month. (For January, our challenges will both be held a week later than the rest of the year.)

For our first Designer Challenge the theme is “From the Heart”. The Die Cut Design Team will be creating a card or project that incorporates any of our heart dies. Valentine’s Day is next month but hearts can be used for so many more occasions than just Valentine’s Day.

Many of the designers’ projects have been created using the new dies in the new Els van de Burgt Studio Valentines Collection or the ModaScrap Collection. Both are available for purchase on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website now.
