Thinking of You

August 28, 2014

Hi! It’s Candy with another post for the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. Everyone has a bad day once in a while and needs a sweet pick-me-up. I thought the new Rainy Day Set would be perfect for a thinking-of-you card. I used the Lucy Label Pop Up die for my card base and flowers from Bunch of Flowers Set 1 to finish of my card.

To create the card:

1. Cut purple cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Score at 4 1/4″.

2. Cut striped paper 5 1/8″ x 8 1/4″. Score at 4 1/8″.

3. Place Lucy Label die on crease of striped paper (centered) and cut. Fold out the pop up

4. Center and adhere the striped paper on the purple cardstock. (do not put adhesive where pop up is).

5. Cut flower pattern paper 5 1/4″ x 4″. Adhere to card front.

6. Cut strip of striped paper 5 1/2″ x 1″. Adhere to card front.

7. Stamp sentiment. Mat with red cardstock. Adhere to card front.

8. Cut light green cardstock and dot patterned paper flowers using Bunch of Flowers 1 dies. Adhere as shown.

9. Add Glitter Dots Peel-offs to the center of each flower.

10. Die cut umbrella, label, Thinking of You and boots and adhere as shown. Tip: For added dimension, use foam tape behind the front boot.

11. Optional: Create a place to write a personal message – Cut light green cardstock 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ and adhere.

12. Cut flowers from patterned paper using the same die set as in step 8. Arrange and adhere as shown.

13. Add Glitter Dots Peel-offs to the center of each flower.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s tutorial!

A Pink Rain Accordion Card

August 19, 2014

Hi Kelly Booth here 🙂 For today’s blog post I decided to use the new Rainy Day die set by Elizabeth Craft Designs along with the Karen Burniston Fancy Label Accordion die set.
If one of my friends is sick, I always like to cheer her up with a handmade card. This is one of those cards in pretty pink. I hope you enjoy today’s tutorial.

To create my card, I first like to get all my pieces cut, stamped, and ready to assemble.

1. Cut pink cardstock 8.5 by 6.5 and adhere to Elizabeth Craft Designs double sided adhesive. Cut 12 polka dot frame edges (16 if you want the frame on the back of the card as well).

2. Cut umbrella and 2 solid rain boots from Pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Cut 2 rain boots overlays from Light Pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.

3. Cut 4 accordion pages from white cardstock and stamp pink rain on both sides using a bright pink ink. Cut apart two of these leaving 2 outer frames and 2 label pieces.

4. On one accordion page, stamp sentiment on inner label. Make sure tabs are facing to the right as this is how you will assemble the card.

5. Cut one more accordion page from pink cardstock placing the large label decorator die on the inside before cutting. See picture below.

You should now have pieces that look like this

6. Apply Glossy Accents on umbrella handle and sprinkle Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter on top. Set aside to dry.

7. Take your accordion page with sentiment and adhere pink frame around the sentiment using a tape runner or dots of glue.

8. Adhere rain boot overlays to solid rain boots using small pieces of double sided adhesive. Adhere boots to the inside frame of the other accordion page as shown in the first two pictures at the top. Use foam tape at the back of one of the boots. Adhere umbrella top using pop dots. Then apply a few drops of glue at the back of the umbrella handle and adhere to card tucking the top under the umbrella.

9. Lay the decorated accordion pages side by side with the tabs facing toward the right.
Put a strong adhesive on the tabs and connect the two accordion panels. While still flat, turn the pages over and adhere the extra (stamped) frames on the back of the panels using adhesive of your choice. Next, connect the two label shape inner panels, making sure that the outer frames form a valley fold and the connected label shapes form a mountain fold.
Refer to the photo. TIP: Gently fold along the score lines to that the card will fold flat when closed.(If needed, review Karen Burniston’s Accordion Card video tutorial).

10. Adhere the extra two inner labels to the back of the card covering the small tabs.

Rainy Day Stand-Up Card

July 14, 2014

Hi everyone – Helen here today! The new Summer Release from Elizabeth Craft Designs will be available SO soon, and I made a simple Stand Up card using a couple of the new products – the Rainy Day die set, the Thinking of You Stand Up Helper, and a new color Shimmer Sheetz. I wanted to show how easy the Stand Up Helpers are.

Directions:

1. Cut a piece of thick double-sided patterned paper to 12” x 4.5”, and two strips of the same paper, 1.25” x 4.5” (ie. The light blue strip, and diagonal patterned strip, in the picture below.)

2. Cut a 3” square of Light Blue Metallic Shimmer Sheetz, and emboss it with the Lots of Dots embossing folder.

3. Cut a 3.25” square of contrasting patterned paper, and adhere the Shimmer Sheetz square to the centre of it.

4. Cut a thin strip of the contrasting patterned paper .5” x 4.5”

5. Cut out an umbrella, hand cut 2 contrasting umbrella panels, cut two lots of boots, and two flowers and flower centres.

6. Fold the big sheet of paper in half, and fold one half in half again. Place the Stand Up Helper die half way down the unfolded side, and die cut, as shown below.

7. Adhere the Shimmer Sheetz square so that about a third of it sticks up over the top of the fold, on the top half of the card.

8. Use a glue pen and small self-adhesive foam pads to adhere the other card elements as shown in the picture below.

9. Stick the remaining 1.25” x 4.5” strip of patterned paper to the underneath of the card, covering the hole left by the Stand Up helper die cut.
