Something Special Is Happening Card

May 1, 2021

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Something Special Is Happening Card.

To create my Something Special Is Happening Card, I’ve used a variety of dies and stamps from Suzanne Cannon as well as dies from Joset Designs. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my card at home.

Step One. You’ll need to choose two pieces of coordinating patterned paper. Die cut a 4″ Fitted Indented Square out of one of the patterned papers. Die cut a 3 1/2″ Fitted Indented Square out of the other patterned paper. Ink the edges of both squares using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose one more coordinating patterned paper. Die cut a 3 1/4″ Stitched Indented Rectangle out of the third patterned paper. Die cut a 2 1/4″ out of the second patterned paper. Ink the edges of both squares using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Die cut a 3 3/4″ Stitched Indented Square out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the square using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. From the Flourished Frame die, you’ll need the flourish. Die cut the flourish out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five. From the Little Ones die, you’ll need all of the pieces for the stroller. Die cut the stroller out of a piece of Silver Grey Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the stroller accessories out of a fourth piece of coordinating patterned paper.

Step Six. From the Please Join Us Stamp, you’ll need the Something Special sentiment. Apply Detail Black Ink to the sentiment and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the sentiment into three strips. Ink the edges of each strip using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Seven. Adhere the 3 3/4″ square to the 4″ square. Adhere the 3 1/2″ square to the 3 3/4″ square.

Step Eight. Foam square the 3 1/4″ square to the 3 1/2″ square. Foam square the 2 1/4″ square to the middle of the 3 1/4″ square.

Step Nine. Adhere the flourish to the middle of the 2 1/4″ square.

Step Ten. Adhere the accessories for the stroller to the stroller.

Step Eleven. Adhere the stroller to the middle of the 2 1/4″ square.

Step Twelve. Adhere the three strips to the bottom right side of the 3 1/4″ and 2 1/4″ squares as desired.

Step Thirteen. Cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 4″ x 8, score at 4″. Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Something Special Is Happening Card.

Step One. Start by choosing a couple of pieces of coordinating patterned paper. Die cut a 4 1/2″ Stitched Rectangle out of one of the patterned papers. Die cut a 4″ Stitched Rectangle out of the other patterned paper.

Step Two. From the Big Balloon Die, die cut the balloon once out of Whisper Blue Soft Finish Cardstock. Choose another piece of coordinating patterned paper and die cut the balloon out again.

Step Three. Using the balloon die, die cut the string out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Four. Die cut the You’re Invited die out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five. From the Little Ones die, die cut the plain onesie out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the onesie with the heart on it out of another piece of coordinating patterned paper.

Step Six. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Something Special sentiment from the You’re Invited Stamp Set and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the sentiment into a strip.

Step Seven. Foam square the 4″ rectangle to the 4 1/2″ rectangle.

Step Eight. Adhere the patterned paper ballon to the plain blue ballon, making sure that you can see a bit of the blue. Adhere the string to the bottom of the balloon.

Step Nine. Adhere the balloon to the top left corner of the 4 1/2″ rectangle. Trim the string on the balloon so that it ends at the bottom of the 4 1/2″ rectangle.

Step Ten. Adhere the You’re Invited to the middle of the balloon as desired.

Step Eleven. Cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 3/4″ x 9″, score at 4 1/2″. Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.

Baby Shower Set

November 3, 2018

Babies – ah, I love them!  And I love celebrating the arrival of a new bundle of hope, possibility and dreams.  Now that I am out of the baby stage myself, I would actually have time to put together a cute little shower for a mom-to-be.  There are so many designs you could make for a baby shower with the A Way With Words die sets.  I went with the onesies because I just love those – especially since I love squeezing those baby thunder thighs!  This set showcases an example of a card for the mom-to-be, the invitations and then also a little gift box.  Read on how you can quickly put together a set yourself.
