“Shoot for the Moon” Mixed Media Card

August 18, 2018

Hello Crafty Friends!

Kathy Jo here today sharing a card using the inspirational quote from the Soar Collection stamp set and the sweet star from the Flourished Night Sky die set.  The die and stamp set are a perfect pairing!  And although I used the flourished star for the card front, I could have easily used the flourish moon.  Let’s jump into the card instructions!

Card instructions:

Step 1 – Spray desired spray inks onto mixed media paper.  Allow to dry.

Step 2 – Use a small paint brush and lightly flick white acrylic paint onto inked media background.  (It is okay to have irregular shapes appear.  The night sky is full of heavenly bodies such as shooting stars, nebulae, comets, and galaxies.)  Air dry.

Step 3 – Create top fold 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base using white cardstock.

Step 4 – Cut mixed media background slightly smaller than 4.25 x 5.5.  Use black archival ink and stamp quote onto background.  Allow to dry.

Step 5 – Die cut white corrugated board using flourished star.  (Don’t have white corrugated board?  Take a look at any corrugated boxes you have at home.  Cut off a small piece of the box and remove the flat paper off of one side to expose the corrugated.  Paint using white acrylic paint.)

Step 6 – Mount background to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 7 – Mount star using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 8 – Optional: Apply Kids Choice Glue to front of star and add sequins.

Step 9 – Decorate inside of card as desired.

What a happy and inspirational card!

Thanks, Deborah! I love the sentiment, too. Luckily the acrylic doesn’t wear out because I have used the sentiment a lot! 🙂

Fabulous card! The transparent sequins on the star are a great touch, and as you said – the die and the stamp set are a perfect pairing.
