Basket of Love

August 10, 2018

Hello, it is Christine today with a card project using several of Susan’s Garden Notes dies and a background done with Distress Oxide Inks.  My version of Love-In-A-Mist flowers is based on seeds I had bought called “Chocolate & Cream”(I think they may also be called “African Bride”).  Unfortunately the seeds did not germinate as they were probably planted a little late, but I will try again for next year.

Here is how card was created:

Step 1  From green cardstock cut Susan’s Garden Notes – Leafy Berry Branch twice.  Add shading using Distress Ink.  Lay right side down on Garden Notes Molding Pad, rub back of leaves with medium ball tool from Susan’s Garden Notes 4 pc. Tool Kit to give dimension.  Using Nuvo Crystal Drops, add berries. Set aside to dry. Optional (recommended by Susan): When berries are dry, repeat on the back side of the cardstock so the berries are fully rounded.

Step 2  Form 6″ X 6″ top-fold white cardstock card base.

Step 3  Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 5-5/8″ square.   Create the background by dropping ink from Distress Oxide Re-inkers in colors of choice onto a non-stick craft mat. Tap the cardstock onto the ink, dry with a heat tool, repeat until the square is completely covered.  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesivec adhere background to center of card front.

Step 4  Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 5-3/4″ square.  Using largest die from Garden Notes Stitched Frame It – Squares set, cut the frame and adhere to card front, covering the edges of the square from Step 3.

Step 5  Using Garden Notes Gathering Basket Die cut 2 baskets from White Soft Finish Cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive prior to die cutting.  Adhere one on top of the other for dimension. Use Distress Inks  and Metallic Rubs to color basket, making sure to get edges.  Susan’s video showing how is at this link.  Slightly curve the basket and adhere to card front with foam squares to retain the dimension.

Step 6  From green cardstock cut Garden Notes Ladder Ferns as well as Garden Notes Ivy Vine.  Shade and shape.

Step 7  Cut 5 Garden Notes Love-In-A-Mist: petals from White Soft Finish Cardstock, stamens from dark brown cardstock and leaves & small center from green cardstock. Shade, shape and assemble. Susan’s tutorial is at this link.

Step 8  Using Kids Choice Glue to adhere all elements, assemble the card front in this order – ferns, berry branches, ivy and flowers. Finally, tuck in the leaves.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and will make your own card.  By clicking on any of pictures below it will take you directly to that item where you can view, add to your cart, and purchase.

Until Next Time – Happy Crafting!
