Summer Poppies

July 15, 2018

Hi everyone! Angela here as guest blogger this morning. I am sitting at the cottage in what is now a sunny and hot Northern New Brunswick, Canada. However, until very recently is was unseasonably cold, which means gardens are late. Poppies are just blooming here, so they are my inspiration today. From Susan’s Garden Notes dies, the Poppy 2 die makes it easy to replicate these gorgeous big blooms.  I’ve added some Baby’s Breath as well as Berry Spray and some Ladder Fern to complete the arrangement.

Here’s how it all came together:

Step 1: Create a 6″ square card from 100 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 2: Create coloured medallion using Ken Oliver’s ColorBurst Powders on water colour paper. when dry, die cut using 3rd largest circle from the Stitched Circles die set. Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape, adhere to center of card front.

Step 3: Using  the Ladder Fern die, die cut 2 small pieces and 1 large piece. colour with Copic markers and shape using Susan’s All Metal Tool Kit.

Step 4: Adhere to card front using Kids Choice Glue, referring to photo for placement.

Step 5: Using the Berry Spray die, die cut 2 pieces. Colour with Copics and add berries using Nuvo Crystal Drops. Let dry completely, adhere to card front as in photo below.

Step 6: Using the Baby’s Breath die set, die cut branch twice. Die cut the flower plate six times. Colour stems with Copics. Shape flowers. Adhere flowers to stem tips. Set aside.

Step 7: Using the Poppy 2 die set, cut pieces for three flowers. Colour with Copics. Dip center pieces in glue and into black pollen, let dry.

Step 8: Shape the poppy petals and glue to card front. Roll center piece leaving the middle open. (See Susan’s Facebook video for great instructions). Shape center pieces. Glue centers into poppies.

Step 9: Cut Baby’s breath into separate pieces and arrange around poppies.

Step 10: Colour and shape leaves. Glue to card front.

And you’re done!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
