Frame It Hexagon Card

July 20, 2018

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here today. I have a Clean and Simple card to share with you using the new Fitted and Stitched Hexagons dies along with the classic Small Butterfly die. Below you will find the steps to replicate this card.

Step 1 – Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Score and fold in half to form a horizontal top-fold card base. Finished size: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2)

Step 2 – Create a Distress Oxide Background using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Optional: Use ModaScrap patterned paper instead. To create the background add colors of choice onto a non-stick craft mat and spritz with water. Dip the cardstock into the ink. Dry using a heat tool. Repeat the process until desired effect is achieved. Here is my video showing how to create the background: here.

Step 3 – Die cut Fitted Hexagons from the inked background. Cut three with the smallest die and one with the next size up.

Step 4 – Hexagon Frame – Die cut Stitched Hexagons from White Soft Finish Cardstock together with the Fitted Hexagons to make frames.  Cut three of the smallest and one of the next size up. Adhere the frames to the matching size backgrounds. Adhere the three smaller ones to the card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Notice that these are set so that there is a point facing up (as if 12:00 on a clock face), one at the left side of the card and two toward the right side. Adhere the large one as shown, flat side across the top, using foam tape to add dimension. Refer to the photo for placement.

Step 5 – Die cut Small Butterfly using inked cardstock for the solid shape and White Soft Finish Cardstock for the detailed overlay, and Black Soft Finish Cardstock for the body and antennae. Assemble the butterfly using a touch of Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape only on the butterfly’s body. Gently bend wings upward for dimension.

Step 6 –  Die cut the sentiment (You’re Special sentiment) from White Soft Finish Cardstock using Words 2 – Thinking of You die set. Cover the die cut words with VersaMark ink (directly from the pad. While wet, sprinkle with black embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Repeat 3 times for thickly embossed words. Adhere to card using Kids Choice Glue.

This card can be used for any occasion by changing the colors, sentiment and/or image. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
