A Glass of Poppies

July 13, 2018

Hello everyone!! I’m so glad to share with you a new project. Some days ago I was in my country house and I was trying to save some poppies from the lawn mower and to arrange them inside a very old and dirty glass. I was so happy about the final result, that I though that could be great to make something similar on paper. So, here the project for you!

Step 1 – Die cut two glasses (one full and one cut out the rim only), straw and label from the set Summer Drink.
Color them with any kind of media

Step 2 – Die cut the poppies three times from White Soft Finish Cardstock using the Garden Notes – Poppy 2 die set, color all parts of the flower using your prefered coloring media.

Shape and assemble flowers using Susan’s Garden All Metal Tool set. You can see Susan’s video on how this is done here.

Step 3 – Create a background for the card using White Soft Finish Cardstock adding some watercolor effects to the card. You can add an interesting texture to the card, distressing the edge of the paper.

Step 4 – Adhere the glass onto the card. Layer the straw and stems of the poppies onto the top of the glass, so some appear to be inside the glass and some above the glass. Add the additional rim we cut over these layers. Refer to photo below for placement.

Next add the completed poppy flowers and leaves to the card. Adhere a label on the top of the composition to finish off the card.

You can finish the card put the paper on a cardstock support, folded on the middle.

I hope you get inspired to create your own glass of flowers. Thank you for stopping by.
