With this month’s challenge theme I (finally!) got the chance to play with Elizabeth Craft Designs Silk Microfine Glitter. I loved it so much that all my cards this month feature it, his card included. Though it’s a clean and simple design I’ve added texture and sparkle to create a fun birthday card.
Here are the instructions:
Step 1: Die cut the card front using the largest rectangle from the Dashing Rectangles die set.
Step 2: Die cut 15 ladybugs (with the closed wing) out of red Velvet Adhesive Sheets and black cardstock. Adhere the two parts to complete the 15 ladybugs.
Step 3: Apply Double Sided Adhesive to the top of red cardstock.
Step 4: Next, die cut 5 ladybugs (with the open wing) out of the red card and black cardstock.
Step 5: Remove the top adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of glitter on top. Brush off any excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.
Step 6: Adhere the wings to the body of the ladybugs.
Step 7: Assemble card as shown, adhering the ladybugs in 4 rows set slightly to the left within the rectangle, leaving room for the sentiment.
Step 8: Stamp the sentiment, then mat card front to black card base.
TIP: This month was the first time I used Silk Microfine Glitter but I found a whole bunch of inspiration and how-to videos on the Elizabeth Craft Designs YouTube Channel and they helped me learn and use this technique.
I hope you enjoyed my Ladybug Birthday Card enough so that you’ll get out your Elizabeth Craft Designs glitter stash and give this card a go! I’ve just added a few of their newest glitter palettes to my own stash because it’s just an easy way to add that extra ‘something’ to a card. I think you’ll also find (like I did) just how easy this technique actually is!
Happy Crafting and get your glitter on!
