A Hoot – Many Layers

April 16, 2018

Hi Everyone!  It’s Karen here.  Love, Love layers!  Today I’m showcasing a card that I made for my son’s birthday using many layers of fun!

Here are the steps I used to make this card:

Step 1. From 100lb White Soft-Finish Cardstock, cut a rectangle measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5.5″ and fold in half to create a top-fold card base.

Step 2.  Cut a piece of the stone pattern paper from Color of Puppies – Boy 12 x 12 collection at 3-1/2″ x 2″ and die cut in half using the Adventure Edges grass die.  Layer the die cut “grass” on a 3-1/2″ square piece of blue cardstock. Die cut with a Dashing Square and stamp ‘hope your day is a HOOT!’ across the top. (Stamp from the If Animals Could Talk clear stamp set.)

Step 3. Die cut blue cardstock with the 2nd largest Dashing Rectangle die.  From green cardstock, cut one piece that is 2-3/4″ x 5″ and another 3″ square.

Step 4. Using paper from the Color of Puppies – Boy 12×12 paper collection, cut the following pieces:  Plaid 2-1/2″ x 4-3/4″, chevrons 2″ x 3-1/2″.

Step 5.  Layer the card front as shown in the photos below.

Step 6. Using permanent black ink, stamp the owl from the Give a Hoot clear stamps and die cut with the coordinating die.  Color the owl with Copic markers: Y21, Y23, BG53, BG57, YG11, YG13, YR14, W0, and 2.  Adhere the owl with a piece of pop-tape.

Step 7. Using the stars banner die from the Celebration Flags die set, cut polka-dot pattern paper.  Adhere to card from by adding a small piece of pop-tape behind each star.

Thank you for stopping by!

Craftily yours,

Karen
