Wishing You a Colorful Day

March 13, 2018

Samantha here, back again sharing one of my cards created using Elizabeth Craft Designs beautiful Floral Background stamp. This is one of those cards that came together because I don’t like to waste leftover cardstock. I know I’m not the only one! So with this very versatile background stamp I decided to create my own colourful background.

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Cut strips of coloured cardstock that vary in width. Length measurement approx: 6.5 inches.

Step 2: Adhere strips to lightweight white printer paper as shown in the photo below. Important: If you are planning on adding the optional machine stitching (see Step 6) make sure that none of the tape used to adhere the strips of cardstock to the white paper is near the long edges of the strips to ensure that the sewing machine needle doesn’t get gummy from the adhesive tape.

TIP: Keep in mind that this will be die-cut in step 4 and the overall size once all strips have been adhered should be slightly larger than the largest Dashing Rectangles die.

Step 3: Once all strips have been adhered, stamp the Floral Background stamp with black ink.

Step 4: Die cut using the largest Dashing Rectangles die.

Step 5: Stamp the sentiment onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Trim to 2 inches x 3/4 inch.

Step 6: Adhere sentiment to card front. Add machine stitched lines (optional). Embellish with gems and sequins.

Step 7: Add Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to highlight the petals of some of the flowers and mat card front to a slightly larger white card base.

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial for this bright and colourful card. Bring out those large  background stamps (there are others in the new release at Elizabeth Craft Designs!), use up those scrap pieces of paper, and get creative!

What a great card. I love your use of scrap strips and I really like to use machine stitching on cards. This is perfect.
