I haven’t yet converted to eBooks and probably won’t. I love the heft of a good novel, I enjoy turning actual paper pages and when it’s time for a break, tucking in a bookmark. I use bookmarks in my cookbooks to keep track of favorite recipes. I include them whenever I give a book as a gift. And, as you have probably guessed, I LOVE making them!
Shimmer Sheetz is an excellent starting point for bookmarks. It’s sturdy, lightweight and durable, and it looks downright elegant.
Care to join me? Cut Shimmer Sheetz into strips of varying lengths and widths. (Samples shown measure 4” to 8.5” in length and 1.5” x 2” in width.) Choose some embossing folders and a few stickers and let the fun begin.
Here’s how it works:
- For the easiest bookmarks ever, simply emboss and lightly sand a strip of Shimmer Sheetz. Wipe with a damp paper towel. DONE! I dubbed this tutorial Five-Minute Bookmarks, but these take only a minute or two.
- Spend a tad more time and emboss with more than one folder. Wipe with a damp paper towel. Add some colorful stickers or adhesive-backed glittery ribbon.
Up the ante to ten minutes or so. Instead of embossing, lightly sand a strip of Metallic Gold Shimmer Sheetz. Add long gold border stickers (shown: Ribbon Radar); accent with Glitter Dots peel-offs (shown: Gold/Silver and Violet/Silver).
