Mom’s Birthday

March 14, 2018

It’s Karen here.  My mom’s birthday was at the beginning of March.  I wanted to wait to post her card until I was sure she got it.  My mom is the smartest, prettiest, most wonderful woman in the entire world.  (I know a lot of you have moms like that!)  I wanted to make her an extra special card for her birthday so I used the really cool Gift Wrapped stamps and coordinating dies along with the Butterfly Dreams paper.  To jazz it up just a bit more, I added a pop-up to the inside.  With the General Pop-Ups dies, it’s so EASY!

Here are the steps I used to make this card:

Step 1. From 100lb White Soft-Finish Cardstock, cut a rectangle measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″; score at 5.5″ and fold in half to create a top-fold card base.

Step 2. Using paper from the Butterfly Dreams 12×12 paper collection, cut the following pieces:  one card front (of the lighter spread out pattern) at 4″ x 5-1/4″ and one strip (of the darker bunched pattern) at 2″ x 5-1/4″. In the picture, mine was larger because I changed my mind about what I was doing and didn’t need that much.  Also, cut a piece of pink card stock at 2″ x 5-1/4″.

Step 3. Using Adventure Edges dies, cut the pink card stock and bunched flowers pieces together. Adhere the patterned card stock to the pink card stock with a 1/4″ offset and then adhere this to the card base.

Step 4. Using black permanent ink, stamp “Happy Birthday” from the General Sentiments collection to the card base.

Step 5.  Again using black permanent ink, stamp three of the presents from the Gift Wrapped Clear Stamps and die cut them with the coordinating dies.

Step 6.  Color the presents with the following Copic markers.

Step 7. Using pop-tape, adhere the presents to the card front, add some sequins, and color in the “Happy Birthday” with Copic marker RV66. Adhere the card front to the card base.

For the inside:

Step 8.  Cut a piece of the lighter patterned paper at 4″ x 7-1/2″.  Cut two strips of pink card stock at 1″ x 4″.  Using washi tape, adhere the strips to the pattern paper.  Using the Adventurous Edges die, die cut both ends and adhere the pink cardstock offset by 1/4″.  Fold this piece in half.  Using the General Pop-Ups die set at the fold, die cut in the pop up.

Step 9.  Add two strips (3″ x 4″) of the more punched pattern to the top and bottom of the inside of the card. Adhere the pop-up piece to the inside of the card.

Step 10.  Stamp, color and die cut the woman holding a stack of presents.  For my card, I used the same Copic colors and added a little C1 and Y26.  Glue this image to the pop-up.

Step 11.  Add a die-cut Dashing Rectangles to the inside as a place to sign the card.

*Happy Birthday, Mom!  Love you lots and lots!*

Thank you for stopping by!

Craftily yours,

Karen

Love your idea on this card!! I had never seen the dies you used on the pink edge and the Moda paper just completes this card. More ideas for “must have” products!

I hope your Mom had a lovely birthday. You are very blessed to have her as your Mom. I have met her a few times and found her to be terrific.
