Friendship Pansies

March 5, 2018

Hello everyone. Christine here posting a new card I have designed using dies from the new release as some from past ones.  Susan’s Garden Notes new Pansy 2 and Leafy Berry Branch were used along with Susan’s Maiden Hair Fern and ModaScrap’s Flower Lace Frame.

Here are the steps for this card.

Step 1  Using Garden Notes Leafy Berry Branch cut 2 branches from green cardstock.   Add a little shading using Distress Inks.  Lay right side down on molding mat, take medium ball tool (from Garden Notes 4 pc. All Metal Tool Kit) rub backs of leaves to give a little shape, then turn the branches over and run ball tool down the stem.  Add Nuvo Crystal Drops for berries.  Set aside to dry completely.

Step 2  Form card base by cutting white cardstock 6″ X 12″,  score at 6″, fold on score line to form 6″ X 6″ card base – either as a side-fold or tent-fold card.  Emboss card front (Dots folder used here).

Step 3  Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 5-3/4″ square and die cut using ModaScrap Flower Lace Frame die.

Step 4  Taking center piece from the Flower Lace Frame die cut in step 3, use Distress Oxide Inks in 3-4 colors of choice to swipe color onto a non-stick craft mat. Spritz with water and tap the center piece into inks until the desired effect is achieved. (It is such fun to come up with unique backgrounds.)  Dry with heat tool.

Step 5  Use Kids Choice Glue applied with a toothpick to the outer edge as well other spots and attach frame to card front.  Add Clear Double Sided Adhesive to back of center piece and adhere it in the middle of the frame, flat against the card front.

Step 6  From green cardstock cut 1 set of Garden Notes Maidenhair Fern pieces. Shade with Distress Ink. Lay pieces on molding mat, rub with medium ball tool, turn over and run the tool down the stem for dimension and shaping.

Step 7  Cut 3 Garden Notes Pansy 2 along with several leaves from White Soft Finish Cardstock color center of petals using PanPastels Set 1 or Copic markers. (No need to die cut the stems.) Use markers to color leaves.   Shape using Susan’s Garden Notes 4 pc. All Metal Tool Kit.

Step 8  Using a little Kids Choice Glue on stem adhere ferns to card front.  Add Leafy Berry Branches in same manner.  Build the pansies right on card and add leaves, tucked beneath and around the flowers.

Hope that you have enjoyed this tutorial today and it has inspired you to make your own card.
