Always and Forever

February 10, 2018

Hi there, Artlings!  It’s Suzanne here today with a simple, elegant version of Always & Forever.  This is perfect for a guy for Valentine’s Day, but by changing the colour of the gently sponged ink, you can pink it right up!  By adding dimension to each layer, the result is a super special card for a super special person. Wouldn’t this make a stunning wedding or anniversary card?

This card is so simple to make. It took me longer to photograph it than to make it.  And the photo really doesn’t do it justice!

Here is how you can make this card!

Instructions:

Step 1 – Form a 7 x 5.5” tent-fold card base from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 2 – Die cut the following from 100lb White Soft Finish Cardstock:

  1. Forever
  2. Always
  3. Ampersand from Calligraphic Elements 2
  4. Fitted Oval (3rd from smallest)
  5. Dotted Scallop Oval (4th from smallest)
  6. Fitted Rectangle (second largest)
  7. Dotted Scallop Rectangle (largest)
  8. Butterfly from Butterfly Flourish

Step 3 – Nest the Fitted die inside the Dotted Scalloped die and cut the White SFC using both dies at the same time.  Designer Tip: Use low-tack removable tape to hold the dies in place, though they do nest quite nicely without tape.

Step 4 – Gently sponge ink on the edges of all the diecuts.

Step 5 – Assemble layers as shown with foam tape between each layer.

Step 6 – Attach the words with clear foam tape. Designer Tip: You can also say Forever & Always, but since the flourish is on the top of Always and the bottom of Forever, I chose to place the words as Always & Forever! Note how the flourishes overlap the oval, a visual anchor that ties everything together.

Step 7 – Give your beautiful card to someone special!
