Pretty Little Favor Boxes using New ModaScrap and Susan’s Garden Dies!

January 11, 2018

Hi It’s Kelly Booth,  Happy New Year to you all!  I have a fun project to show you today using the brand new ModaScrap Triangle Box die.  I also used ModaScrap Patterned Cardstock  and the #1020 Hydrangea by Susan Tierney-Cockburn!

Here is how I created the little favor boxes:

Step 1. Cut two triangle boxes from a 12″x 12″ floral piece found in the ModaScrap Fly and Scrap Pattern Paper collection. Fold on score lines, place a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the side tab. Adhere. Set aside the box till later.

Step 2. Using the Hydrangea die set, cut White Soft Finish cardstock as follows: 4 flower bases, 2 or three sets of leaves and about 8 groups of the petals. Color each piece – both front and back. (I like to color my flower parts using Copic markers.)

Step 3. Color both sides of the flower bases. Using the largest ball tool in the Susan’s Garden Metal Tool Kit, use the motion Susan called ‘stirring the pot’ to shape the flower base to create a dome shape with two of the four flower vases. Place a little glue on the outer edge and adhere each to a second (flat) flower base.

Step 4. Color all leaves with the same greens and then place each leaf on the leaf pad and put in the veins of the leaf as shown below.

Step 5. Using the Susan’s Garden tools, begin to shape each petal. Flip it over and with the scoop tool round the petals underneath.  Flip the petal back over and push it down in the center with the stylus tool.  Add a tiny dot of green to the center of each petal.

Step 6. Then place a little dot of glue on the underside of each petal and begin building the flower starting at the outside and building upward to fill the dome shape and create the hydrangea ‘head’.

Step 7. Glue the leaves beneath the hydrangea heads. Hydrangeas are leafy bushes, so add as many leaves as you want! To watch master flower maker Susan Tierney Cockburn create hydrangeas  HERE

Step 8. I found some colorful rubber bands to use as closures for the boxes. Tie a knot as shown and it won’t slip through the hole. After pulling the loop end of the band through the hold, add a dab of glue on the under side to hold the knot in place. Allow it to dry.

Step 9. Fill the box with some yummy chocolates or other treats, stretch the rubber band to the other end and place it in the groove.

Step 10. Use a dab of Beacon Kids Choice glue to secure a hydrangea with its leaves to the top of the box and your creation is complete!

I hope you have enjoyed today’s tutorial. I just love the ModaScrap Triangle Box and Susan’s Flowers are so much fun! Thank you for stopping by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today.
