A Way With Words Soft Finish Cardstock

Perfect Winter Birthday

December 30, 2017

Hi there!  It’s Suzanne here today as 2017 comes to an end.  I hope it’s been a good year for you and you’re looking forward to an even better 2018!  I plan to get out my art supplies more in 2018.  I spend a lot of time at the computer and even if I’m being creative, it just isn’t the same as cutting and gluing and inking!  What about you?  Do you have plans to do more in 2018?  Perhaps learn something new?

I’m here today with a quick and easy card for someone with a winter birthday!  There are lots of winter babies out there who need cards!  It’s a great example of how you can mix and match dies from the A Way With Words collection and it’s super easy!

Here is how to make it:

Instructions:

  1. Form a 7 x 5” tent-fold card base from Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut a 5 x 4.25” panel from White SFC. Die cut ‘perfect’, ‘Winter’ and ‘birthday’ from White. Also cut the accent from the Flourished Frame set and the snowflakes from the Brrrrrrr set from White.
  2. Gently sponge Sea Foam on the letters, adding more to the bottom half of the letters. This gives the impression of  sunlight shining on snow on the top half.
  3. Use small rolled pieces of Clear Double Sided Adhesive to adhere the letters as shown on the white panel. This gives a little dimension to the words and helps them stand out from the background. Designer tip: Lay your words out on the white panel so you can see the finished arrangement. Then remove the words, one at a time starting with ‘birthday’ and then adhere the rest as shown.
  4. Attach the white panel toward the left side of the card base using foam tabs. Adhere the accent flourish to the card base to the right of the white panel with the curled end at the top as shown. (Design strategy: This helps aim your eye directly over to the snowflakes and words.)

I adore the texture in the Soft Finish Cardstock.  It’s just beautiful.

Have a look at your A Way With Word dies.  I hope seeing this combination helps you look at them with fresh eyes for spotting new combinations!  Have fun!  Enjoy those winter birthdays!
