Susan's Garden Club

Black Eyed Susan Chocolate Box

November 10, 2017

Hello Lovely People !!!!!

Welcome to the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. Today I have created a project using the lovely Black Eyed Susan. They are flowers native to North America, a popular wildflower that can be planted in a garden along with other perennials. I have decorated a handmade chocolate box with these beautiful flowers.

Here is how to make the box:

Step 1 –

  • Cut yellow cardstock to measure 11-1/2 inches  x 9-1/2 inches.
  • Score at 3-1/2; 4; 7-1/2 and 8 inches on the 11-1/2 inch side.
  • Score at 1/4;  3/4;  8-1/2 and 9-1/4  inches on the 9-1/2  inch side.
  • Fold along all score lines.

Step 2 –

  • Cut away the side scored portions on the either side of the centre panel leaving only the centre flap as shown in the photo above.
  • Fold the bottom flap up to the center panel, adhere the side tab to the bottom flap creating a pocket.

Step 3 –

  • Cut watercolor paper to 7-3/8 inches  x 3-1/2 inches.  Decorate this piece by swiping Distress ink pads onto the watercolor paper in two directions – vertically and horizontally, creating a random abstract plaid pattern. Adhere this panel onto the front of the chocolate box.

Step 4 –

  • Die cut yellow cardstock using one of the Stitched Ovals dies and score in the center.

  • Cut along the scored line. Adhere the half oval to the front of the box.

Step 5 –

  • Using the Garden Notes Black-Eyed Susan and Garden Notes Ladder Fern dies, die cut enough petals and leaves to create three flowers and three ferns from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Color the petals, leaves and ferns with watercolors. Shape and assemble using Susan’s All Metal Tool Kit, Leaf Pad and Molding Pad.

  • Arrange and adhere the flowers, leaves and ferns on the front of the box, clustered and overlapping as shown.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you like the project I created for you.

Hugs,

Pavitra
