Soft Finish Cardstock

Tri-Fold Halloween Card

September 22, 2017

Hello

This is Anita here! Halloween cards are so much fun to make, especially using the newly released stamps and dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. There are so many fun images to select from, including bats, pumpkins, a witch, candy corn, spooky trees, a haunted house, and more.

For my tutorial today I created a tri-fold card that provides a lot of space for creating detailed scenes.

Here is how I created my card.

Step 1 – Cut  a piece of Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock to 8.5 inches x 11 inches.  Cut this piece of card in half diagonally leaving 1.5 inches at each end.

Step 2 – Score and fold at 4 inches and 7.75 inches.

Step 3 – Place the stitched cloud die from the Adventure Edges die set on the top edge of the black card base to die cut a cloudy edge. Continue to cut the top edge along the entire length of the card  to get a cloud edge design.

Step 4 – Cut a piece of purple patterned paper  so that a 2 inch edge shows above the black card. Use the stitched cloud die to cloudy edge to the top edge of this paper.

Step 5 – Cut a piece of yellow cardstock so that it is 2 inches higher than the purple paper and cut the same cloud edge on top using the stitched cloud die.

Step 6 – Adhere the three card panels to each other as shown in the project photo (black, purple patterned paper and yellow at the back).

Step 7 – Die cut ghosts,  haunted house, witch, cat, bats, iron fence, the word BOO, pumpkins, grass, etc. Color the pumpkins with any coloring medium (watercolors, markers, PanPastels, Distress Inks). Also color and distress the edges of other pieces if desired.

Step 8 – Use a circle die to cut out out a moon that is a good fit for the witch. Sponge the edges with Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon Distress inks. Arrange and adhere all pieces, overlapping as shown or as you prefer, popping up some of them with foam tape to add dimension.

Step 9 – Using black ink, stamp a sentiment from the Spooky Sentiments Clear Stamp set, die cut using coordinating die. Cut a strip of Kraft brown cardstock to use as a sign post. Add the sign to the card toward the center.

Thank you for stopping by today.
