Butterfly Slider Card

August 25, 2017

Hello, it’s Anita here today with a butterfly slider card. Please be sure to watch the YouTube tutorial showing how to construct a slider. It is very easy, thanks to the die that cuts the channel in the card front. The butterfly flutters across the card, anchored by a coin or a metal washer that helps it slide. It’s a fun project that can easily be turned into a birthday card or used to celebrate other occasions. Just substitute the sentiment for a different one!

Instructions:

Step 1 – Stamp, color and die cut a butterfly, three flowers, plus nine or ten leaves. Use markers or colored pencils, as you choose. Blend the colors to add dimension. The die sets match the stamp sets…Easy, fast, and accurate!

Step 2 – Create a card front panel with robin’s egg blue and green dotted papers. Die cut the slider mechanism.

Step 3 – Assemble the butterfly to use for the sliding element, adding the coin or metal washer. Back the open area behind the slider portion of the panel with blue dotted paper. Mat to a piece of white cardstock, mount on a white side-fold card base. Optional: Round off the corners before matting to the white cardstock.

Step 3 – Arrange the flowers, but don’t yet glue them in position. Make a pencil mark where the center of each one will go. Remove them and use a fine nib black pen to draw vertical lines for the flower stems. Also draw little decorative lines around the slider. (dot, dash, dot, dash…)

Step 4 – Now glue the flowers in place, overlapping as shown. Finally, glue the leaves in place, some along the stems and some tucked among the flowers.

Step 4 – Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock with black ink. Mat with black cardstock; adhere at the lower right corner.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will make your own butterfly slider card real soon!
