Day Lily Thank You Card

July 26, 2017

Hello Dear Friends,

“The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,

The humble sheet a threat’ning horn:

While the Lily white shall in love delight,

Nor a thorn nor a thread stain her beauty bright.”

The above ode to this exquisite flower by famous romantic poet William Blake signifies the love for lilies that people have had for centuries. The Day Lily symbolizes innocence, purity and thankfulness. It’s a flower used not only as a prenatal gift to expecting mothers but also as an anniversary gift and for other occasions, too.

Today I present to you a card using this immensely captivating flower. This card is for all of my friends, thanking them for being a vital part of my life’s journey.

Step 1 – Create the mixed media background using newspaper, tissue paper, lace and twine.

Step 2 – Die cut all three of the Entwined Circle dies twice from white cardstock. alter one set with inks and sprays and adhere randomly to the card front. Set aside the remaining three Entwined Circles till step 8.

Step 3 – Spray the background using spray ink of choice. (More ink will get onto the circles – that’s fine.)

Step 4 – Using the Flower Lace 2 die set, die cut white cardstock and adhere at the center of the background. Spatter with a bit of spray to lightly color.

Step 5 – Die cut the Ivy Vine leaves 7 times from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color with green inks or markers and adhere as shown.

Step 6 – Create three lilies using the Susan’s Garden Notes Day Lily die set. Color with Berrylicious and Fern Green Archival inks. Shape and assemble the flowers using the Metal Tool Kit. Apply clear drying Kids Choice Glue to the stamens and dip into Prills.

Add completed flowers to the card front.

Step 7 – Add pieces of the white Entwined Circles from step 2 between the flowers as shown below.

Step 8 – Added some art stones and micro beads to the background of the card.

Step 9 –  To complete the card, stamp “Thank you” from the General Sentiments Clear Stamp set onto white cardstock using Plum Archival Ink. Spray with a light color mist (same as the die cut lace layer) and slightly bend the strip so it is softly curved. Adhere to the bottom of the card front.

I hope you all will enjoy making your own version of this special card.

Have a nice day!
