Teddy Bear Father’s Day Card

Teddy Bear Father's Day Card

Masculine cards can sometimes pose a challenge and since Father’s Day is right around the corner, I thought I would combine some of the adorable new ModaScrap patterned papers with some of the Teddy Bear Picnic stamps to create a card that any dad would love.

Here’s how I made the card:

  1. Using permanent black ink, stamp the large bear with the little girl bear and the small sitting bear from the Teddy Bear Picnic Clear Stamp set on to 85 lb. White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the images with markers of your choice using colors that will coordinate with the patterned papers; I used Spectrum Noir blue and turquoise tones along with browns for the bears. If desired, add black glaze pen to the bears’ noses and eyes.

  2. Die cut a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock using the largest Stitched Rectangles die. Die cut the blue polka dot paper from the ModaScrap Viaggi Vintage 6 x 6 paper pack using the second largest Stitched Rectangles die. Die cut the tie patterned paper from the ModaScrap Manly Man 6 x 6 paper pack using the third largest Stitched Rectangles die. Die cut a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock with the smallest Stitched Hearts die. Die cut the colored bears with the matching Teddy Bear Picnic dies. Die cut 2 “d”s and 1 “a” from 85 lb. White Soft Finish Cardstock using the Alphabet 2 – Lower Case die. Stamp “You’re the Best” from the General Sentiments Clear Stamps on to 85 lb. White Soft Finish Cardstock using a blue ink that matches the Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock. Trim the piece down to 1-1/8” x 1-1/8”. Using liquid glue, adhere the white letters cut in Step 2 on top of the stitched heart to spell “dad”. Add foam tape to the back of the heart and the die cut bears from Step 2. Create an A2 sized (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) side folding card base by cutting a piece of 100 lb. White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 ½” x 4 ¼” and folding it in half (not pictured).

  3. Add several strips of 10 mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of the white A2 card base and the backs of the 2 patterned papers. Add 6 mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of the square greeting. It’s time for assembly! Since the card base is slightly smaller than the Bonnie Blue rectangle, I found it easier to adhere them together by centering the card base over the back (white) side of the Bonnie Blue rectangle and then pressing it in place. Flip the card base over so the blue side is up and adhere the polka dot patterned paper on top of it, centering it in the middle. Then, adhere the tie patterned rectangle on top of the polka dot piece, also centered. Arrange the bears across the lower half of the tie paper with the square greeting just above the papa bear’s head and then adhere the heart (on foam tape) to the left of the greeting, offset and slightly higher than the square. Remove the backing from the adhesive on the square greeting and adhere it down, tucking its upper left corner just under the heart, about mid-level on the heart. Now, remove the backing from the foam tape on the bears and adhere them in place. If desired, add shading under the bears with gray markers to ground them. Enjoy!
