Birthday Boy

June 23, 2017

Happy Friday!  It’s Karen here with a fun birthday card I made for the son of one of my friends.  Boy cards are tough for me, but I think the combination of the Color of Puppies and Boy papers along with the Zoo Babies stamps was perfect. In my post today, I’ll give you a little tip on dealing with smaller pieces of scrap paper, too.

Here are the steps I used to make this card:

1. Using permanent black ink, stamp the giraffe/elephant image from Zoo Babies onto a piece of white cardstock measuring 2-1/2″ x 4 (note that the balloon in the image goes off the top of the cardstock).  Color as follows:

(The Copic markers colors I used are in the lower left of each step above.)

2.  Stamp “Happy Birthday” from the General Sentiments stamp set onto the image.

3. Cut two pieces of patterned cardstock from the Color of Puppies, Boy, 12 x 12 stack at 2-1/4″ x 4″.  Then cut a piece of white cardstock at 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Adhere the patterned cardstock to the white cardstock.  This tip will help you to use smaller pieces of scrap and line them up perfectly every time.

4. Cut a piece of green cardstock to 2-3/4″ x 4″ inches and adhere the colored image to it.

5.  Cut about 1/3 of the Dotted Scallop die and adhere to the image as shown below:

6.  Cut the ends of the scallop oval to the edge of the image and then adhere this to the card front created in step 3.

7.  Stamp the balloon on a piece of white cardstock. Color and glue it on top of the image where the balloon was cut off.

8.  Add some twine, a twine bow and some sequins.

9.  Create a card base by cutting a piece of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 11″, scoring it at 5-1/2″ and folding it in half.  Adhere the card front to the card base.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Craftily yours,

Karen
