Nothing says Spring has arrived as much as flowers and butterflies. They are also really easy to combine to make a sweet card! I just got some beautiful new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs, including the new Dancing Butterflies set. I’ve been on a gray kick lately – it’s such a nice soft neutral color and goes well with a more vibrant color. Today I am pairing it with purple!
As you can see, the different shades of purple add interest to the card without making it too busy. The steps below outline how you can create the card:
- Cut card base 8.5″ by 5.5″ and fold to 4.25″ x 5.5″.
- Trim gray cardstock to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
- Used mid sized rectangle die to trim white cardstock for center layer.
- Stamp Flower Power off a corner of the small white cardstock in VersaMark ink; clear emboss.
- Use Distress Inks in Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, and Evergreen Bough to sponge flower and background. Note: Sponge the green by masking the flower.
- Using green cardstock, die cut Curvy Leaves. Sponge and shade with Evergreen Bough.
- Die cut the largest Dancing Butterfly out of two different shades of purple cardstock. Layer so that the lighter butterfly is on top and glue together only the body portion, leaving the wings free to bend upward for dimension.
- Die cut the word ‘Blessings’ from the lighter purple cardstock. Sponge and shade from the top with Dusty Concord.
- Adhere all the die cuts as shown in the pictures.
I hope you have a blessed day and get to enjoy some beautiful spring weather!

Hi Diana, Truly beautiful !! The grey colour ‘marries’ beautifully with the purples and greens, and the sentiment is gorgeous.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
I love how you have the vines coming from behind the rectangle. Very pretty card.
