Elizabeth Craft Designs General Pop it Ups Soft Finish Cardstock

All Seasons Tree With a PanPastel Background

February 14, 2017

Melanie, from the Die Cut Design Team, here with you to share a really playful card. I love creating scenes and the All Seasons Tree die set from designer Karen Burniston is perfect for making scenes for every season.

Directions:

Step 1: Use the second largest die from the Stitched Rectangle die set to cut a pierced rectangle from White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step 2: Use Susan’s Garden PanPastels to lightly color the background in blues and greens to create the ground and sky. Spray with a fixative to prevent smearing.

Step 3: Use the All Seasons Tree die set to cut the tree base (trunk and branches) and lots of leaves. The set comes with several leaves, the oak leaf is used for this card.

Step 4: Adhere the tree onto the background.

Step 5. Using Susan’s Garden tool kit and a leaf pad add a crease to each of the leaves to add dimension.

Step 6: Working one leaf at a time, dip the stem end into quick drying glue before applying them onto the tree. It helps to use tweezers or your fingers to hold just the tip of the leaf down for a count of 10 seconds, allowing the glue to start to grip and dry. Overlap the leaves for a natural look and to add even more dimension.

Step 7:  Die cut the CountryScapes Garden Edges – Hyacinth using green cardstock for the stem and leaf piece and multiple pinks and purples for the ‘reflexed petals’ (the little flowers that combine to make up each hyacinth).

Step 8: Turn the green strip over and use the smaller ball end of the stylus to press and shape each of the flower sections to give them dimension.

Step 8: After die cutting the little petals use the same end of the stylus to cup each of them with the small ball end of the stylus, molding pad underneath. Adhere with a small amount of quick drying glue, overlapping, with the cupped end down (each reflexed petal should face upward like a little dish). Review Susan’s video tutorial HERE to ensure your success.

Step 9: Assemble your card on an A2 card base (4.25″ x 5.5″). Add a piece of designer paper in colors that echo the colors in the hyacinths and tree.
