Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge – January

January 10, 2017

Hi everyone,

We are excited to be bringing back our Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenges for 2017! On the first Tuesday of the Month starting in February we will be holding our Die Cut Design Team Designer Challenge. Our Coloring Design Team Designer Challenge will be held on the third Tuesday of each month. (For January, our challenges will both be held a week later than the rest of the year.)

For our first Designer Challenge the theme is “From the Heart”. The Die Cut Design Team will be creating a card or project that incorporates any of our heart dies. Valentine’s Day is next month but hearts can be used for so many more occasions than just Valentine’s Day.

Many of the designers’ projects have been created using the new dies in the new Els van de Burgt Studio Valentines Collection or the ModaScrap Collection. Both are available for purchase on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website now.

Let’s have a look at what our Die Cut Design Team has created…

Selma Stevenson starts us off this month with this gorgeous red and white card using the new Els van de Burgt Studio Lovebirds & Love Sentiments, layered onto the Scalloped Hearts and Stitched Hearts. Selma has used one of the corners from the Corners 1 die set to decorate the corners of her card.

Katelyn Grosart has also gone with a red and white color theme for her card. Katelyn has created a white on white background using the Heart Background die. To decorate her card Katelyn has added hearts from the Stitched Hearts die set. She created a banner using the Moda Scrap Stitched Fishtail Banners, embellished with the XOXO sentiment from the Love Sentiments die set and some tiny hearts from the Entwined Hearts die set.

By die cutting the Heart Background in two different colors of cardstock and piecing the hearts back into the other colored background, Sanna Lippert has been able to create two cards. Sanna has also used the ModaScrap Stitched Fishtail Banners and Love Sentiments to decorate her cards.

Melanie Smith has created this sweet card using the Leafy Lace Heart. To decorate her card Melanie has added the birds from the Lovebirds die set and a sentiment from Joset Designs General Sentiments Clear Stamp set.

Evgenia Petzer has created our next gorgeous card. Evgenia has used the Scallop Hearts, Leafy Branch 2, Leafy Branch 3 and part of the Rose Pocket die that you can see peeking out behind  the heart.

Our next card has been created by Birgit Norton.  Birgit designed an easel card and has decorated her card using the ModaScrap Lace Heart in red. The heart was layered onto a cream Scalloped Heart. On the right side of the heart Birgit added the sentiment “I Love You” from the Love Sentiments die set. On the base of her card Birgit layered the Stitched Squares and Scallop Squares, and added the XOXOX sentiment from Joset Designs General Sentiments Clear Stamps.

Anita Kejriwal has created this gorgeous Heart Shaped Easel Card. She used the hearts from the Stitched Hearts die set and the Lacy Leaf Heart on both the front and base of her card. She added a wonderful array of flowers using the Bunch of Flowers 2, Leafy Branch and Love Sentiments die sets.

One more Easel Card,  this time a Triple Heart Easel Card from Frances Byrne. Frances used the Stitched Hearts die set to create the base of her card. To decorate her card she added the Scalloped Hearts, Leafy Lace Heart, Entwined Hearts, Moda Scrap Lace Heart and Love Sentiments.

For our final project for our challenge this month, Sandy Diller has created this wonderful Heart Shaped Box using the Leafy Lace Heart and the Heart Strings Embossing Folder.

Thank you for visiting our blog today. We hope you enjoyed seeing all the wondering creations our Die Cut Design Team created this month and that it has inspired you to create your own “heart” projects. Happy Crafting!
