Delicate Gerberas from Susan’s Garden

January 31, 2017

Hello to all,

Welcome to the ECD blog and especially to Susan’s Garden Club. I am Anita here. Susan’s Garden is filled with the best flower making dies and I just love all of them. You’ll find roses and hydrangeas, gerbera daisies, pansies, lilies and many more.

Today, I have created some delicate pastel blooms for you using the newly-released Garden Notes Gerbera Daisy.

In nature this flower grows in a variety of colours from pastel to vibrant. I love the pastels and chose soft pink. There are eight dies in the set including the stem, leaves, and all of the parts of the flower!

To make this card:

1. Make a White Soft Finish Cardstock card base measuring 7″ x  7″ (You’ll need to overlap and tape two pieces if you want a card with a fold at the left side or across the top, but you could also make a flat-back card that is displayed on an easel.)

2. Cut a White Soft Finish Cardstock mat measuring 6.5″ x 6.6″ and distress the edges. Adhere this to the card front using 3D foam tape.

3. Choose two 6″ x 6″ patterned papers. Distress the edges of one piece and tear it at the right side as shown in the photo. Adhere to the white mat. Cut a Leaf Pocket from White Soft Finish Cardstock, trim some pieces from it and insert and adhere the pieces so they peek out of the torn section. Refer back to the project photo for placement and to help choose the section of the leaf pattern.

4. Tear two paper strips from the second patterned paper and add it to the card front. Using the stencil and modeling paste, add some texture to the card front. Allow the paste to dry.

5. Die cut three Stitched Circle frames; adhere to the card front.

6. Create five buds and three full bloom flowers using the Gerbera Daisy die set. Cut 4 layers for the petals for each full bloom flower. Also die cut the leaves and stems.

7. Color the petals, leaves and stems using PanPastels or soft chalk pastels to achieve the natural look. Shape the flowers, buds, and leaves using Susan’s Garden Club tools, molding pad and leaf pad. Assemble the flowers using Beacon Kids Choice glue to secure the pieces.

8. Die cut several White Soft Finish Cardstock leaves using the ModaScrap Leafy Branch 4 die. (No color is added to these leaves.)

9. Refer to the photo for placement. Overlap and glue the flowers, buds and all leaves to the card front.

10. Optional: Add some sequins for a bit of extra sparkle.

I really hope you like this shabby chic card highlighted with 3D flowers! It would look great in a shadow box, I think. Don’t forget: Susan’s Garden Club has many new dies for flower making and you can adapt this card by choosing any of them.

Thanks a ton for stopping by and have a great day.
