Hello, it’s Annette Green here today with Susan’s Garden Club design team. I’ve started on my holiday cards for the season and wanted to share a fun and festive card I’ve created with Susan’s Carolina Farmhouse Door along with Holiday Holly & Berries dies. My card is 5″ x 7″ – just the right scale and perfect fit for the Farmhouse Door. Let me share how I made it.

1. Die cut the red portion of paper in the Through the Lens Wood Series 6 x 6 cardstock pack using the Carolina Farmhouse Door. Save the pieces from the windows for later.

2. Adhere pattern paper to the back of the door to show through the windows.

3. Use the fine tip of a dark brown marker to trace along all the debossed indentations made by the die to help them stand out. Use the brush tip to create a “drop shadow” to the windows and panels of the door, shading the left and bottom edges of each.

4. Use a lighter brown marker to add the shadow to the right and top edge of each. This adds the effect of depth and dimension.

5. Ink the outer edges of the leftover window pieces with brown ink and adhere them onto the lower panels of the door as shown, adding still more dimension.

6. Pierce a small hole through the door and insert a large decorative brad to serve as a door knob.

7. Using the Holiday Holly & Berries die, die-cut lots of holly leaves. I used the two smallest leaves in the set to cut out two different shades of green patterned paper.

8. Use circle dies or punches to create a 1 1/2″ frame for a wreath base, as shown.

9. Use the leaf tool to score a vein line down the center of each holly leaf while on the leaf pad.

10. Add several vein lines from the center outward on each holly leaf, then shape each with reverse tweezers for dimension. Ink edges with a dark green ink, if desired.

11. Adhere the holly leaves onto the wreath base, alternating shades of green, until you’ve filled the circle.

12. Brush a thin layer of glue randomly onto the wreath and sprinkle with Forest Green Silk Microfine Glitter. Set aside to dry.

13. Add drops of glue spaced at intervals around the wreath and sprinkle Berry Nice Prills to create clusters of berries as shown above. Let dry.

14. Tie a double strand of red twine into a bow and adhere to the top of the wreath.

15. From ivory cardstock, die-cut two Berry Branches, then color the stems brown and the berries red.

16. Apply glue to the berries and sprinkle Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter. Set aside to dry.

17. Now that all the prep work is done, it’s time to create a card base. Cut cardstock for a 5″ x 7″ folded card. Add a coordinating patterned paper (4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″) to the base, scalloping the bottom edge only.

18. Cut a coordinating piece of patterned paper 4 3/4″ x 5 1/2″, add lace trim to top and bottom edge and adhere this unit in place.

19. Adhere the door to the card front. You can also add some banner pennants, if you desire.

20. Adhere the wreath to the door and the berry branches in the lower left corner. Trim the berry branches slightly at the base to make them fit as shown.

21. Use paper scraps to create the inside of your card, and adhere a hand-stamped sentiment in place.
