Amaryllis Gift Bags

September 19, 2016

Hello everyone, it’s Annette Green from the Susan’s Garden Club Design Team here today to share some pretty gift bags adorned with the new Amaryllis flower die. After doing some research on this flower, I discovered the Gigantic Pink Amaryllis. I loved the coloration of this particular type.

I added the finished flowers to some pretty gift bags I’ll be giving to my girlfriends this weekend at our annual get-away. Let me show you how easy the Amaryllis is to create.

1. Start with some gift bags. You can purchase them or make your own like I did. Mine measure 4″ wide and about 8″ tall before folding them closed.

2. Die cut the Amaryllis petals and stamen from White Soft Finish Cardstock.

3. Softly blend bright green ink on the centers of each petal piece as well as the base of the stamen. If desired, rub yellow ink on the tips of the stamen.

4. Draw quick strokes with a bright pink marker on the outer areas of each petal as shown.

5. Ink the outer edges of each petal with a soft pink ink.

6. Lay each petal piece face down on the molding mat and use the large loop tool to press and drag from the tip to the center several times, to create texture.

7. Flip the petal pieces face up on the molding mat and press into the center with the medium ball stylus to shape.

8. Adhere the small petal piece to the larger one and set aside to dry.

9. Snip the stamen projections in half with scissors. Apply a thin bead of glue to the base of the stamen and roll up with reverse tweezers. Set aside to dry.

10. Die cut the stem and leaves from Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock and create veins on each using the leaf tool. Shape with reverse tweezers as desired.

11. Cut pattern papers to create pretty pennants for your gift bags, adding a border strip to the tops of each as I did, or you can add ribbon or lace.

12. Adhere the Amaryllis flowers to each, trimming off the bottom of the stems as shown, and adhere the stamens in place.

13. Add a stamped sentiment, if desired, embellished with a sparkly brad. Place a strip of 3/8″ clear double-sided adhesive tape to the top/back of each pennant.

14. Fill the gift bags with goodies, then fold over the tops 1 1/2″. Adhere the pennants to the bags, then attach a clip to hold them closed.

Suggested finishing touches: Add thin ribbon along the bottom of each pennant and adhere an antique button. Attach gold organdy ribbon through each clip and tie into a bow.
