Pop it Up Wednesday with Caz – Honey Bear

June 29, 2016

Hi Crafting Friends,  its Caz here and I am back with another Pop it up Wednesday and with summer time now arrived (someone ought to tell the weather that) I wanted to make a sunny, bright card and I decided on a Ring Accordion card with some flowery papers.

Accordions are real WOW cards and fold totally flat to slip into a regular envelope.

  1. Use a paper trimmer to cut one 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of tan colored cardstock lengthwise at 4 1/4″.
  2. Fold the pieces of card stock in half to create two card bases that measure 4 1/4″  x  5 1/2″.
  3. Adhere the back side of one of the card bases to the inside flap of the second card base. Make sure to line them up perfectly. You will now have a three-paneled card base.
  4. Trim 1/8 of an inch off your third panel so when you fold your card it will lay perfectly flat.
  5. Close your card so your third panel is in the middle and your left panel is on top. place your fourth sized oval die from your Stitched Ovals die set (#1113) in the center of your card so it lays horizontal.
  6. Run the entire card through your die cutting machine until your top two card layers have cleanly cut through. you will now have a left window panel, a middle solid panel, and a right window panel.
  7. Emboss your window panels one at a time with your favorite sea themed embossing folder or one that creates the look of water or rocks. (With this card I used a zebra pattern one that looks wavy.) Make sure you only emboss your window panels.
  8. Trim out a blue background panel measuring 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and emboss it to match your window panels. You will adhere this to the middle solid panel to create your ocean background.
  9. Using your fourth and fifth size ovals from your Stitched Ovals set you will create a border for the front panel of your window card. Using a glue pen to apply a small amount to the back of the oval frame, carefully adhere it to the front of your card around the oval window.
  10. Using dies from the Seaweed die set (#1186) cut 7 green seaweed pieces, 2 orange coral pieces, 1 large and 2 small light pink coral pieces and the rims for them in darker pink, plus 5 brown big rocks and 5 brown small rocks.
  11. Using dies from the Small Shells die set (#1147) cut 1 brown starfish, 1 pink starfish and starfish overlay, 1 shell with its overlay.
  12. Cut 1 gray anchor using the Lighthouse die set (#1145).
  13. Cut 1 green sea turtle and sea turtle shell overlay using the Sea Turtle die set (#1185).
  14. Cut 2 layers of blue cardstock ocean waves the Boat die set (#1182). Adhere the pieces so one row of waves  ishigher than the other and trim them using the fourth size oval from the Stitched Ovals set, the same set used to cut out your windows.
  15. On the lower left corner of your card front, layer and adhere two green and one orange seaweed pieces and two brown rocks, one smaller, one larger.
  16. On the bottom right corner of your card front, layer and adhere one orange seaweed piece and three pink coral pieces, then add add one small rock and one large rock.
  17. On the inside of your front flap add one green seaweed and one brown starfish to the bottom right corner.
  18. On the inside of your right window panel adhere your two layers of ocean waves. The back of the waves is a perfect location to add your sentiment. I added a stamped image from the Ahoy Sentiments clear stamps set, ‘Have a  splashing day!’ (Tip: It’s easiest to stamp the sentiment before attaching the wave pieces to the window.)
  19. On the outside of your right hand window panel layer and adhere one green seaweed piece, one 1 pink double-layered shell and a large brown rock at the bottom left corner.
  20. On the bottom right corner arrange and adhere add three green pieces of seaweed, two large and two small brown rocks, one double-layered pink starfish, and the anchor.
  21. Lastly, add your sea turtle making sure to line him up so when you close the right window panel you can see that he is partly in the waves.
  22. Fold your card panels in and enjoy your triple-layered Deep Sea Adventure 🙂

Hydrangea Thank You Card Inspired by Japan

June 27, 2016

Hi Elizabeth Craft Designs friends. It’s Annette Green with the Susan’s Garden Team to share a thank you card I made with Susan’s Hydrangea Garden Notes die. I was inspired by all the lovely hydrangeas we saw on our recent family vacation to Tokyo, Japan. They are growing everywhere! All different colors are in bloom along the sidewalks, near the rail tracks, and of course in the fabulous gardens. (If you’d like to see some photos of these lovely flowers in Japan, please visit my blog.)

We met my friend Kyoko for lunch one day and she took us shopping, so I created this thank you card for her. Let me share how I made it.

Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-1

  1. Onto White Soft Finish Cardstock, rub several shades of blues and light purple from the Susan’s Pan Pastel Kit 2.Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-2
  2. Die cut the flower petals from Step 1, and cut the stems and leaves from Olive Twist cardstock. Follow Susan’s instructional video for tips on assembly. [Tip 1: Adhere the petals around the perimeter first and set aside to dry before adding the remaining petals.]Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-3
  3. Adhere the remaining petals to the centers of each. [Tip 2: Snip away the stem portion if you’d like to create more hydrangea clusters to fill out your design.] [Tip 3: I like to build my flowers separate from my card base so I can move them around until I’m happy with the composition.]Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-4
  4. Cut a card base from black cardstock for a 5″ x 7″ card. Adhere desired papers and ribbon.Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-5
  5. Die cut two photo corners from the Tags & More 1 – Lace die, back them with black cardstock and adhere to top corners of card. Add a stamped chipboard square and ribbon.Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-6
  6. Adhere the hydrangeas to the card as desired and fill in with the prepared leaves.Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-0-Intro
  7. You can add a dot in the center of each petal if desired. I opted not to.Hydrangea-Thank-You-Card-Annette-Green-7Here’s another look at finished card. The hydrangea is a very easy flower to create, and makes a very pretty and impressive looking cluster. Just like in Japan!

Just Bee-cause

jacky-post2

It’s Jacky here. For my project today I have created a Stand Up Card using the new Dotted Scallop Circles and Ovals and Bead Strings 2 dies from Els Van de Burgt Studio. I have also used the Strawberries die set and clear stamps from Joset Designs.

Here’s how I created my card:

Step 1: Cut a piece of Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock measuring 5″ x 11″. Score at 3″ and 5-1/2″. Fold along score lines. Lightly score at 8-1/4″ but do not fold.

Step 2: Cut a piece of Celadon Green Soft Finish Cardstock of 2 ½” x 5″. Adhere the piece to the bottom of the card base.

Step 3: Using one of the Bead Strings 2 cut 3 bead strips in Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive prior to cutting.

Step 4: Die cut one Dotted Scallop Circle from White Soft Finish cardstock using the smallest Dotted Scallop Circle in the set. Use black ink to stamp ‘Just Bee-cause” onto the circle.

Step 5: Die cut one Stitched Oval from White Soft Finish Cardstock using the third largest die in the set.

Step 6: Die cut one Dotted Scallop Oval from Celadon Green Soft Finish Cardstock using the second largest die in the set.

Step 7: To create the Strawberries: Die cut one large solid strawberry and one small solid strawberry from Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut one large and one small strawberry stamen and one large and one small strawberry overlay from White Soft Finish Cardstock backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive prior to cutting. Using a Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply the ink, color overlays with Barn Door; color stamens with Mowed Lawn Ink. (Clean the tool between colors.) When ink is dry, assemble strawberries and adhere to card front as shown.

Step 8: To create the leaves: Die cut two strawberry leaves from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the leaves with Mowed Lawn Ink applied with a Mini Ink Blending Tool. For best results, work on top of a non-stick craft mat (or the leftover backing of an adhesive sheet) and start making circular motions with the inked tool while it is on the mat, working toward the edge of the cardstock and then onto the shape (edge to center so the darkest ink is at the outer areas). Tip: Use light hand pressure. You can always add more ink as needed.

jackie-post2

Step 9: To create the bees: Die cut two bee bodies from black and yellow Velvet Adhesive Sheets. Die cut wings from White Soft Finish Cardstock. The bee with the open wings will go on the bottom Celadon Green Color piece to create the Stand-up Helper card. Refer to the photo.

Step 10: Assemble card – Adhere the white Stitched Oval to the Green Dotted Scallop Oval.  Adhere the strawberries,  leaves and one bee to the white oval. Adhere the main Oval panel to the lower half of the front of the card. Use 3D tape to add dimension to the small strawberry.  Add Bead Strings accents. Add the second bee as explained in step 9.

I hope you enjoy this project and have a wonderful Sunday!

Jacky.

“Summer” mini-album

June 25, 2016

Elizabeth Craft Designs Suzanne Cannon Summer Graphic 45 mini album summer Mother Goose Kathy Jo Wood

Happy first week of Summer to my Northern Hemisphere crafty friends! Summer is easily my favorite season and it always seems that the time flies by. This year I decided to create a little mini album to capture some of the happy summer memories.  The album is the first album I have created and it was so much fun…I know I will make more! Perhaps some of my family and friends will see a mini album in their future.  (big smile!)

The mini album was not designed by me (I found the instructions on Pinterest) so I will provide a link to the album instruction at the end of this post. However, I can share photos of my take on the album…and I have many to share…so let’s start!

The front of the album with Suzanne Cannon’s lovely Summer die and bright and cheerful Graphic 45 papers:

The back of the album has Celebrate (because I think every summer day is a celebration of season):

The mini album is accordion style…so neat!

The album contains panels for photos or journaling.

Following the cheerful theme I used the “happy” die on the front inside panel:

“Remember” definitely had to be used on this wee album…

…as did “Memories” (so pretty!!)

The heart is elegant and happy (had to be added!)…

…and “Dream” (one of my favorite dies!) will be used with a photo of my sweet puppy sleeping…

Here are the outside panels…

…and the inside panels…

Oh – I so look forward to adding all my photos, journaling and embellishments to this cheerful album! (Can you tell I enjoyed making it?)

Summertime

CS-6-16-16

Hope you are enjoying this first day of summer.  Hello, this is Selma Stevenson today.  I love creating scenes using Susan’s CountryScapes die sets.  As you probably know, Susan is very famous for her larger, very realistic flowers, but she also has a wonderful line of CountryScapes  small flower dies, that help us create pretty outdoor garden scenes, such as this summer scene.    Let me show you how I created this garden.
