Western Theme Masculine Card

February 5, 2016

Hello!  Summer Hills-Painter here today with a card project to make for the guys.  Masculine cards can be so challenging to make sometimes. In the new CHA collections, Karen Burniston released a Paisley Stage it Stencil and Els van de Burgt introduced the Ropes 1 die set. I just knew these two would make the perfect addition to Karen’s already-released Props 6 and Homegrown Greetings Clear Stamps set.

Here is how to make the card:

Feb tut open

  1. Cut 3 pieces of blue cardstock measuring 6″ x 4 1/2″.
  2.  Place the Paisley Stage it Stencil over the cut pieces and add pattern to them using a dark blue ink and a sponge dauber or other ink applicator tool. Allow to dry.

Feb step 1

3.  Cut a piece of Kraft brown cardstock measuring 6″ x 4 1/2″.

4. Use VersaMark Watermark (clear) and dark brown inks to stamp images from the Home Grown Greetings Clear Stamps set to create an allover-pattern background paper.

Feb step 2

5. Using the Gift Card Accordion die and the small and medium rectangles from the Flourish Gift Frame, cut:

2 Paisley layers (trim out the centers to make a frame)

2 Cream cardstock layers

1 Kraft layer (trim out the center to make a frame)

1 Kraft layer using the smallest rectangle

1 Paisley layer using the medium rectangle

Feb step 3

6. Adhere the layers to the cream cardstock bases as shown below. Options: Use paper glue or Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Feb Step 4

7. Cut 4 of the ropes with unraveled ends from Kraft cardstock and ink the edges with brown ink.

8. Cut 4 straight rope pieces from Kraft cardstock and ink the edges with brown ink.

9. Trim and adhere 2 of each ropes to the Paisley layers.

Feb step 5

10. Cut, ink, and adhere at pair of cowboy boots and hat from the Props 6 set and the sentiment “a gift for you”from the Accordion Gift Card die set.

Feb Step 6

11. Attach the two panels together with strong adhesive and trim off the extra tabs from the panel at the last panel.

Your card is now complete!
