Sea-inspired “Happy Birthday”

February 27, 2016

Elizabeth Craft Designs A Way With Words Suzanne Cannon Graphic 45 By The Sea Lighthouse Masculine birthday card Kathy Jo 1Hello Crafty Friends!  Kathy Jo here to share a sea-inspired birthday card using the lovely Happy Birthday 2 die set from Suzanne Cannon’s A Way With Words collection.  Such a great die set- I have used this set several times…love it!  Also used on the card is one of my new favorite die sets: Lighthouse from Joset Designs.  The birthday greeting and lighthouse go very well together.  While I was making the card I decided to make extras of the die cuts so that I can make another card for the stash.  (Perfect excuse for more die cutting fun!)

February 26, 2016

Hi, it’s Sandy Diller here to share a fun project with you.  With spring fast approaching I decided to use some of those lovely pastel colors of the season.  I love these colors although I don’t seem to use them often.  This night light features soft spring colors as well as the warm glow from a trio of battery-operated tea lights.

Here’s how I did it!

Lilac easel card, perfect for Spring

6-x-6-Spring-Easel-Card-by-Annette-Green-01-of-14

Hello Elizabeth Craft Designs friends, Annette Green here today with the Susan’s Garden Club Team sharing a 6″ x 6″ easel card perfect for Springtime (or really any time of the year). Living here in Florida our flower growing options are somewhat limited due to the extreme heat, and I’m not known for my green thumb, so I especially love working with Susan’s Garden Notes dies. This way I can create ANY flower I like and it will last forever. I chose Lilacs today for my card and I loved how easy they were to put together. Let me take you through the process of making the card so you can see for yourself.

The Nifty Nine

February 21, 2016

By Judi Kauffman

There was only one step in this project that was challenging: Naming it! I sent a photo of the nine Artist Trading Cards to my friend Susan and called her on the phone so we could do some brainstorming. I knew I wanted the word ‘Nine’ in the title. It was late in the afternoon, both of us were tired, and all we could come up with were adjectives like ‘notorious’ and ‘nefarious’ (too ‘negative’), ‘nice’ (too sweet), ‘notable’ and ‘noteworthy’ (felt a little pompous). We hung up. Ten seconds later she called back. “Nifty!” she exclaimed. Bingo. It’s official – they’re the Nifty Nine.

It all started with two sheets of peel-offs in gold and black and a piece of alcohol ink-altered Amethyst Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz. Each of the sticker sheets has eight large flowers, four small flowers, and ten half-inch leaves, enough to make lots more than nine ATCs, depending upon whether you use one or two flowers per card (or more!). Or you could try to stop at just one or two…I dare you! ATCs are like jelly beans – a bunch is more fun than just a couple.

As always, my projects are meant as a starting point because no two people will have the same collection of papers and embellishments. I used some ‘retired’ collage papers that I’ve had on hand for ages, but included recently-acquired bunny stickers. I mixed in a notary seal, a tiny flower-shaped gem, some ribbon, snippets of border peel-offs (some altered with alcohol inks), and words created with a label maker – things that might not be among your tools and supplies. If you do want to create the same look but can’t find papers with vintage photos, use old family photos or yard sale finds, pages from castoff books, sheet music, and such.

Dream

February 20, 2016

Feb20of2016Dream1

Hello!!  It’s Wanda Hentges with you today.  We’ve had a lot of really cold weather in Southern Iowa and it’s nice to think about warmer days, maybe by the ocean, walking along picking up shells and enjoying the sunshine.  The A Way With Words Dream die, cut from a “dreamy” color of Shimmer Sheetz, combined with the new Swirly Flourish Stage it Stencil from Karen Burniston (a design that makes me think of waves on the sea), Seashells from Joset Designs, and a rope from Ropes 1, a new release from Els van de Burgt Studio, make for a wonderful card. It sends the mind off on thoughts of a day by the seaside.
