A Way With Words Joset Designs

Celebrate

IMG_5689 (1)Hello everyone,

It’s Jackeline and for my project this week I combined some dies from Joset Designs, Susan’s Garden Club and Quietfire A Way With Words collections with my favorite peel-offs, Jacky’s Dolls, to create this decorative piece.

For the base use an easel-style photo frame. I found this cute red one in a local store. If you can’t find this one, paint a frame and an easel to match with red or any other color acrylic paint and glue them together.

To create the background, cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock to fit in the frame. Die cut clouds to use as a mask and lightly sponge the White cardstock with blue ink, moving the mask around until the sky is filled with soft, overlapping cloud shapes.  Here is a link to a video tutorial.

Die cut grass strips from White and Green Soft Finish Cardstock. Lightly ink the White strip to create softly mottled light green grass.

To create the paper-pieced and glittered doll: Place one Jacky’s Doll onto patterned papers from the Through The Lens Wood Series pack as shown in the photo and the other on top of the exposed adhesive on a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Add Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the adhesive, brush off excess and polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum shine.

Color the glittered Jacky’s Doll with Copic markers (or any other alcohol-based markers).

Fussy cut the pieces as shown or as you prefer. Your doll can wear a glittered hat or dress or one with a pattern. Mix and match, have fun, and choose different papers if you prefer other designs. Tip: Save leftover hats and dresses for cardmaking projects.

Next, create the kites. Die cut all pieces from Premium Palette Cardstock in your choice of colors, or as shown. Layer and assemble the kites against the clouds, using twine for kite tails and foam tape to secure and add dimension behind the kites and bows.

Place the cloud- and kite-filled rectangle into the frame. Adhere the doll to the front of the frame, and place the grass across the front of the frame as shown, overlapping the dark and light strips. Use foam tape for dimension.

Die cut the word ‘Celebrate’ twice – once from Black and once from Golden Yellow Premium Palette Cardstock (both backed with Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Add to the top of the frame, overlapping slightly offset to create a dropped shadow effect.

Note: There are other Jacky’s Dolls so choose your favorite!

I hope you have fun creating a project for someone special.

Happy Crafting!

Jackeline
