Elizabeth Craft Designs October Designers’ Challenge – Holiday Gifts & Tags

October 30, 2015

The holidays are just around the corner so we gathered up some fun gift ideas for you to create. For the October Designers’ Challenge we asked the team to use Shimmer Sheetz and at least one die and one embossing folder. They also had to create a coordinating gift tag.

Let’s see what they came up with!

The first project is from Jackeline Rojas who created a beautiful and inventive wreath using the Card Stand/Easel die in an unexpected way! She decorated the wreath using small cuts from the Berry Branch, the sprig from the Candle set and Red/Gold Glitter Dots Peel-Offs. She also used the Merry Christmas cut from Red Metallic Shimmer Sheetz. For her gift tag she used the Tags & More – Daisy, our new Soft Finish Cardstock, the Lots of Dots Embossing Folder and the Hedgehog Daisy clear stamp from the Hedgehog Daisy All Seasons set. Would you like to create your own wreath using the Card Stand/Easel? Visit Jackeline’s blog HERE for instructions.

Next up, the project from Angela Beavers, who decorated her sleigh door hanger using the Poinsettia and the Merry Christmas dies. The solid poinsettia was cut from cardstock covered with double sided adhesive and then covered with Red Silk Microfine Glitter. For the Merry Christmas she used Gold Metallic Shimmer Sheetz. Who doesn’t want to receive this beautiful decorated door hanger! Find more info on Angela’s blog HERE.

Frances Byrne created a terrific pen holder using Amethyst Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz embossed with our Sea Glass Embossing Folder, the Alphabet 1 Caps die and the Owl Peel-Offs. She colored the owls on top of the Silk Microfine Glitter. You can find out more about this technique in Els’s You Tube Video “Silk Microfine Glitter – Coloring with Alcohol Markers“. Frances created a perfect matching tag using the Merry Christmas and the Tags & More Daisy dies. See more HERE.

Marsha Valk decorated a picture frame using little squares of White Iridescent and Fire Opal Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz. Displayed inside the frame is a piece of watercolor paper embossed with the Mini Mosaic Embossing Folder, topped with small squares of Shimmer Sheetz with hearts die cut out of each one in the quartet. She used the hearts from the squares to decorate her tag and made extra hearts to create a heart garland. If you know someone who loves things that sparkle and shimmer, then this is the perfect gift. (And wouldn’t that heart garland look great at a bridal shower or Valentine’s Day party!) Find instructions on Marsha’s blog HERE.

Judi Kauffman used alcohol ink-altered Australian Opal Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz to decorate a beautiful hinged-top jewelry box with the look of tree bark. She also made two small round jewelry boxes and lots of Shimmer Sheetz jewelry. The jewelry pieces were cut using Jewelry Set 1 Sea Glass and Jewelry Set 2 Droplets. For the matching tag she used small scraps of Shimmer Sheetz embossed with the same Bark Embossing Folder. If you missed Judi’s ‘Sneak Peek’ blog post from yesterday, click HERE.
