Tiny Baby Peel-Off Sticker Canvases

May 26, 2015

Hi there! It’s Marsha here again!

Today I have a teeny tiny project to share with you!

These mini canvases are 2.75″ x 2.75″ each and I created them by painting in the super cute new Baby peel-off stickers in black.

This is quite a simple project, but I have to be honest: you do need a steady hand and a bit of patience to finish all four of these.

Here are the steps to create the tiny canvases:

1. Cut a circle out of post-it tape or a scrap of paper. I did this freehand, but if you want a perfect circle, you can die-cut one. Layer the circle on top of your mini canvas. It will function as a mask.

2. Apply paint around the mask with a cosmetic sponge. Then give the rest of the mini canvas one or two coats of paint. The result should be a coloured mini canvas with a white circle in the middle.

3. Add a Baby peel-off to the mini canvas.

4. Paint in the peel-off image. It’s easiest when you use a fine-tipped brush for this, like a no. 1 or maybe even a no. 0. You can also use the tip of a skewer to apply tiny dots of paint.

Don’t worry if you get paint on the black lines of the peel-off. If it’s just a speck of paint, you can let it dry and scrape it off with the tip of a skewer later on.

If it’s more than a speck you can use a paper towel to wipe it off right away or if that doesn’t do the trick: wrap a baby wipe around the tip of a skewer and use that to clean the excess paint off the peel-off.

And… if it goes all wrong, but you happen to have a spare of the same peel-off: you can let the paint dry and replace the paint covered peel-off with a new, clean one!

Here’s a short process video to give you an idea of the steps:

These mini canvases are lightweight and small enough to fit in an envelope. They will make a darling little present for a newborn and they will look awfully cute in both a little baby boy’s and a baby girl’s room!
