Hello my crafty friends,

This is Rita Edwards here. I hope you are all enjoying your Christmas day. I wanted to share this tree card that I created for my uncle. It has a little shine, a little elegance and is yet not too feminine. This card is for you Uncle Danny!

As always, I hope you have a nice cup of coffee or tea in your hand so you can sit back and enjoy my tutorial.

Here is how I created my tree card:

1. Using My Mind’s Eye’s Vintage Christmas or your favorite paper pads, cut a darker patterned cardstock 6″ x 12″. Score at 6″ and fold to create the base layer of our card. Cut a lighter patterned cardstock 5 3/4″ x 11 3/4″, score at 5 7/8″. Adhere to the inside of the base layer.

2. Cut a lighter cardstock 5 3/4″ x 5 3/4″, which will be the top layer of our card. We will be creating a Christmas tree on this layer, set aside.

3. Cut a piece of scrap paper 3 1/2″ x 4″ and score at 1 3/4″, fold and trim diagonally to create a triangle guide for our Christmas tree. Draw straight lines horizontally at 1/2″ increments. Using temporary craft tape, place the triangle to the desired location of your Christmas tree.

4. Using the 2 little line dies from the Lucy Label Pop Up die set, position the dies at the end of each line, secure with temporary craft tape and die cut. Repeat with each line until the tree outline is complete.

5. Using a light ribbon, starting at the bottom of the Christmas tree, run the lace to create the actual Christmas tree.

6. Adhere the ribbon on both ends with permanent glue tape on the back. Also add three-dimensional adhesive foam squares, which will lift the layer allowing plenty of room for the ribbon on the back of the layer.

7. Using green cardstock, die cut ‘Merry Christmas’ and ‘Happy New Year’. Adhere to card front.

8. Using a piece of brown scrap paper, cut the tree trunk and adhere onto the card.

9. Using the White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz, die cut several little snowflakes from the All Seasons Tree die set, finish with glitter dots and randomly adhere to the front of the card.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Whoops – I meant “anniversary” cake – Slip of the fingers.

With only three or four layers and white ribbon that idea would be super for a wedding or anniersary cake!
