Riding through a Birthday

ECD Ride 3 by Candy Spiegel

Hi! It’s Candy Spiegel returning with another project I created. This one was designed for my husband’s birthday.

ECD Ride 2 by Candy SpiegelFor the cover, I started with a piece of Velvet Adhesive Sheet in beige and embossed it with Trendy Tiles 2 embossing folder. I was trying to replicate some sort of brick roadway.

043After embossing, I coated the raised portion with Staz-On Ink in black. Then, I created the corners with a corner rounder.

194I die cut one Happy Birthday out of black card stock and one out of patterned paper and layered the two to create a shadow effect.

186I then transferred my Peel-Off sticker on a piece of double sided adhesive on white card stock and applied Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. I colored my image with Copic markers. Els has a great You video of this technique: Silk Microfine Glitter – Coloring with Alcohol Markers

ECD Ride 2 by Candy SpiegelFor the inside of the card, I used the Lots of Pops die set.

ECD Ride by Candy SpiegelI added “Happy Birthday” on a banner from the Assorted Words Peel-Off sheet.

193The saying was printed on the computer. I used the extra dies from the Katie Label Pivot Card to create the labels. I added tiny steering wheels from the Peel-Off sheet to the edges.

ECD Ride 3 by Candy SpiegelI also added a few planes from that same sticker sheet to the background.

My husband loved it … what do you think?

Fantastic job on the card. I have bought myself some glitter recently but haven’t played yet but am looking forward to it after some many of you fab ladies are using it in so many cards.

I love glitter … especially the cool diamond and warm diamond because you can color it with your Copic, Tombow or Distress Ink markers.

Great card Candy! I find masculine cards more difficult to create, but you’ve done a fabulous job. The Velvet Adhesive Sheet on the front was a great idea & your computer generated sentiment is perfect with the steering wheels on the sides.

      Thank you, Raquel.

I just love this card, Candy. I knew there was something different about the front, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Velvet Sheets! Great idea to emboss and ink it – — this is a really great masculine card.
    Cheers

Wish I had the right peel off stickers. My son’s birthday is coming up next week and with the addition of a ship instead of the airplanes it would be perfect. Thanks for the ideas.

    • Candy Spiegel March 26, 2014 at 7:54 am

A ship would be a great sticker to have!
